Overview of FATCA:

The foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is a new US tax legislation aimed at addressing perceived tax abuse by US persons through the use of offshore accounts. It aims at ensuring US persons with financial assets outside the US are paying US tax. 18 countries have currently signed Inter-governmental agreements with US.

This is a new regulation which poses significant impact on Financial Institutions worldwide which include Banks, Insurance Companies, Asset Management and Securities Company. It will also drive changes regarding how Financial Institutions open and maintain financial accounts with their corporate and individual clients in China. Therefore, non-US corporates in China with or without shareholders who are US persons will also be impacted by this new Act.

嘉賓介紹：

Loretta CHING ACCA, HKICPA, CIA

A seasoned finance and accounting professional with over 20 years of experience with various Financial Institutions. Her expertise includes Internal Audit, Internal Control, Compliance, Risk Management Consulting and Project Management. She is a holder of Bachelor Degree in Accountancy and a Master Degree in Applied Finance.

Loretta is currently a Consultant with the Resources Global Professionals (www.rgp.com). In the past 2 years, she has been engaged in FATCA related work from different capacities and she has acted as a Project Manager to assist a foreign bank in China to make changes to its policies, processes and systems according to the FATCA requirements.

Loretta previously worked for Prudential Insurance, DBS Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, PwC and Deloitte.
