Patricia·Thompson,chair of the AICPA's Tax Executive Committee,has written to the commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service's Small Business/Self-Employed Division,expressing the AICPA's concern about the rollout of the IRS'program to send letters to tax-return preparers and visit their offices to inspect client records.The AICPA questions the appropriateness of inspecting a return preparer's client files during an office visit and believes the requirement to make"all relevant documents"available will be overly burdensome.Read the AICPA's letter
